They are con-shaped with dimples that have to also match those in the lock that they unlock and lock. This means that the key doesn’t have to be inserted into the lock in any specific position to lock or unlock the lock.
This is the type of key that has been designed to be used on locked car doors. They have an RFID chip and are coded so that they can also be used to access other areas of the vehicle. The tumbler lock requires a special key that rotates the discs like a tumbler that helps them align so that the lock will disengage. They are springless locks and this makes it difficult for someone to pick them. Even though they are not as popular as they once were, there are still some Abloy keys floating around.
Skeleton keys or passkeys are similar to a master key. This type of key is designed only to feature the most important parts of the key, which is why it is referred to as a skeleton key. Some refer to the skeleton key as a master key and others may refer to it as a bitted key used for unlocking lever tumbler locks. Just removing the middle portion can create a skeleton key. This will enable the key to lock and unlock several different locks.
